Dr. Jeanie Metivier, PhD
Founder and Board President
Dr. Jean Metivier is a clinician, researcher, educator, and community leader with over two decades of experience serving children and families in the Northeast Kingdom. She holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University and has focused much of her career on autism research, early intervention, and rural mental health access.
A passionate advocate for children’s well-being, Dr. Metivier has designed and led programs across Vermont to support neurodiverse youth, promote social-emotional learning, and build inclusive community partnerships. She is also one of the coordinators of NEK Psychotherapists (NEKPSY), where she organizes continuing education, peer consultation groups, and retreats for regional mental health providers.
As Founder and President of the Board of Directors for CMNEK, Dr. Metivier leads the strategic vision for the museum and advises on exhibits and programs related to child development, family resilience, and mental health. She brings a unique blend of clinical expertise, creative vision, and a deep love for the Northeast Kingdom’s people and history.
When not working with families or developing museum projects, Jean enjoys antique restoration, exploring Vermont’s back roads, and writing books for her grandchildren as part of her legacy work.
