WELCOME to the Children’s Museum of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.
We are so glad you and your child are here today! Our Mission is to provide a safe and joyful place for children and their families to EXPLORE, DISCOVER, and PLAY TOGETHER.
We want to introduce your child to the unique culture, history, and resources of the NEK. We are a HANDS-ON Museum, and we encourage parents to explore and play alongside their children.
The following is a list of our current Policies for Children and Parents using the Museum:
PLEASE NOTE, by entering the Museum, you agree to follow our policies to ensure the safety and well-being of your children and the other families SHARING this space.
1. PARENTAL SUPERVISION
· You are responsible for the safety of your child through active supervision and YOUR engagement with them.
· At all times during your visit, you must accompany and supervise your children under the age of 12.
· Museum staff support safe play, but we do not provide Child Care and can’t provide Babysitting services.
2. CLEANLINESS, HEALTH, AND SAFETY
· Shoes must be removed upon arrival and stored in the bins provided.
. Socks must be worn at all times. Socks are available for purchase in the museum.
. Diaper covers are required. (pants, onesie, shorts, etc.)
· Please wash or sanitize your hands upon entering the Museum. Hand sanitizer is available to use during your visit.
· Help us keep exhibits safe and welcoming for other families by tidying up after play.
· Except for bottled water, No food or drink is permitted during your visit to the Museum.
· Running and unruly behavior are discouraged in the Museum.
· No hitting, pushing, or rough play is allowed in the Museum.
· Staff may ask you to leave if your child’s behavior becomes unsafe or disruptive.
· For any emergency that arises, please follow staff instructions promptly.
· Please do not allow your child to leave the Museum through the rear exit.
· If you or your child is ill, please stay home and plan to visit another day.
· Please do not photograph other children without explicit approval from their parent(s). CMNEK may photograph your children at play for promotional use, parents may opt out at will.
· Our occupancy capacity is 25 people for the safety of all.
3. EVERY CHILD BELONGS HERE at CMNEK
· The Museum space is ADA-accessible. [Sensory-friendly tools and accommodations are available upon request.]
· If your child needs a break, please use the designated Quiet Space.
· The Museum is an INCLUSIVE SPACE. We welcome ALL children and families of ALL backgrounds, abilities, and identities!
· DISCRIMINATION, HARASSMENT, BULLYING, OR EXCLUSIONARY BEHAVIOR IS NOT TOLERATED, PERMITTED, OR ALLOWED.
